Serenity is a very special combination of herbs designed to provide calmness to the body.  This formula soothes the nerves and allows for a better sleep cycle.  Most people would gather these intended effects by reading the name, however, the process these herbs undertake and the systems in the body that are affected may come as a surprise.

When a person is agitated, nervous or frazzled their body may actually have too much heat.  The mind is overactive and they may be unable to relax or sleep.  The source of this excess heat is often the digestive system.  The digestive system releases heat when digesting food which can radiate throughout the body, stimulating the heart and mind and creating mental chatter and restlessness.  This can happen from many things including over indulging in food, improper food combining or eating too close to bedtime.  Fluctuations in hormone levels also cause temperature changes in the body.  The hypothalamus works in conjunction with the thyroid gland, which creates hormones responsible for, among other things, our metabolic rate and internal temperature.  Balancing these hormone levels can be an important factor in maintaining a calm mind/body/spirit.

•Beth Root is native to North America and has been used by Native Americans for a number of issues.  It has traditionally been used as an expectorant and a female tonic.  Its soothing qualities can help deal with heavy or painful menstruation and anti-inflammatory properties may help balance hormone levels.  It is useful in detoxifying the body and protecting the immune system.

•Milkweed is a tonic herb that can help ease pain, relax the muscles, and aid in stomach ailments.  It is also a mild diuretic and may help lower blood pressure.
